Reporting to the Year Round Team (YRT), our Seasonal Leadership Team (SLT) roles are the core team that prepares for summer camp and provides leadership to the staff and volunteers that make up our Summer Staff Team through July and August.

In addition to preparing for summer camp, the SLT supports Activity Day rentals for various schools throughout May and June.

MINISTRY POSITIONS

OVERNIGHT TEAM LEAD(S)

Overnight Team Leads (ONTLs) provide hands-on leadership, mentorship, and spiritual support for our overnight summer staff and campers. In the months leading up to camp, they help prepare the team by assisting with interviews, sending hiring packages, communicating with staff before arrival, and contributing to staff training plans. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

During summer, they serve as key leaders who guide and disciple cabin leaders, lead staff devotions and team activities, and ensure every staff member feels supported, encouraged, and checked in with regularly. Overnight Team Leads will offer support to cabin leaders in camper situations - especially emotional or nighttime concerns - to help navigate homesickness, behaviour, and cabin dynamics. They partner closely with other team leads to set cabin lists, manage daily logistics, facilitate camp-wide movement, oversee competitions, and support overnight program elements. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, a steady and compassionate presence, and a deep faith foundation to help young leaders grow spiritually as they serve campers.

DAYCAMP TEAM LEAD

The Daycamp Team Lead (DCTL) provides daily leadership, mentorship, and spiritual support for our daycamp staff and campers. Leading up to summer, they help prepare the team by shadowing interviews, sending hiring packages, connecting with staff before they arrive, and helping shape staff training and team-building events. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

During camp, the Daycamp Team Lead guides and disciples the Daycamp staff, leads daily meetings, runs staff events alongside the ONTLs, and makes sure every team member is checked in with and supported. They step into camper situations that arise throughout the day - typically tangible issues - to help leaders navigate challenges with confidence. On the logistics side, they partner closely with other team leads to set cabin lists, manage daily logistics, facilitate camp-wide movement, oversee competitions, and support daycamp program elements. This role is best suited for someone with strong leadership skills, a calm and encouraging presence, and a solid faith foundation to help mentor young leaders.

WORSHIP & DISCIPLESHIP PASTOR

The Worship & Discipleship Pastor leads the spiritual heartbeat of camp by guiding worship, mentoring staff, and creating meaningful spaces for campers to encounter Jesus. Before summer begins, they prepare worship sets, write the devotional curriculum for campers, coordinate with weekly speakers, and ensure sound equipment and lyric slides are ready to support the worship experience. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

During the summer, they build and mentor a weekly worship band, lead worship twice daily, guide campers in devotions, and intentionally invest in staff through discipleship, prayer, and relationship-building. This role is highly camper-facing- The Worship & Discipleship Pastor manages fireside (chapel time), keeps the chapel space clean and welcoming, and serves as a consistent spiritual leader throughout every part of camp. A strong worship leader with pastoral gifting, sound tech knowledge, and a deep relationship with God will thrive in this role, offering steady support and spiritual care to campers, staff, and speakers.

CLTD LEADER(S)

CLTD Leads guide and mentor the teens in our Christian Leadership Training & Discipleship program, helping them grow in faith, confidence, and practical servant leadership. Before summer begins, they will prepare schedules, curriculum, teaching sessions, and special events or offsite experiences that make the CLTD program a unique part of camp. They ensure the program is structured, meaningful, and aligned with camp’s discipleship goals. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

During the summer, CLTD Leads run the program alongside the main camp schedule, acting as cabin leaders, spiritual mentors, and teachers for the CLTD students. They lead sessions, guide students through daily tasks, participate in major camp activities, and model servant leadership in everything they do. This role includes sleeping in cabins with students, overseeing cleanliness in CLTD areas, and facilitating program elements for the CLTD students. Strong faith, flexibility, and a willingness to jump into any area of camp life are essential for this role.

TEAM SUPPORT(S)

The Team Support role provides flexible, high-impact assistance across all areas of camp to keep programs running smoothly and ensure staff and campers are well cared for. Leading up to summer, they help with rentals, activity days, and preparation tasks alongside the Seasonal Leadership Team.

Once summer begins, they bolster staff culture by maintaining support systems, helping plan weekly celebrations, and stepping into leadership roles when breaks or additional support are needed. Team Support(s) play a deeply camper-facing role, regularly subbing into activities, engaging intentionally with kids, and filling in wherever needed to help create a positive camp experience. They also assist with program logistics, provide hands-on support to team members, and help maintain clean and organized staff spaces. This position is ideal for someone with a strong faith foundation, a servant-hearted attitude, and the ability to adapt quickly while bringing joy, calm, and encouragement into every area of camp life.

VOLUNTEER TEAM LEAD

The Volunteer Team Lead is responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and guiding volunteers to ensure a smooth and impactful camp experience, with a strong focus on hands-on, outdoor work. In the months leading up to summer, they assist with volunteer screening, scheduling, and preparation, working closely with the Site and Maintenance Coordinators. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

During camp, they supervise and support volunteers as they complete physical and maintenance tasks, participate in activities, and serve with joy and purpose. This role emphasizes building a sense of community among volunteers, especially young people, while providing logistical and spiritual support, ensuring that each volunteer feels equipped and valued. The Volunteer Team Lead also oversees volunteer housing, ensures compliance with camp procedures, assists with daily logistics, and actively participates in outdoor maintenance tasks such as grounds upkeep, equipment handling, and boat support. This position requires someone with leadership experience, a heart for mentorship, and a willingness to work alongside volunteers in both service and physical tasks while participating fully in the life and faith-based programming of Camp Chestermere.

PROGRAM & ADMIN POSITIONS

PROGRAMS LEAD(S)

The Programs Lead(s) provide critical support to both Daycamp and Overnight Teams by overseeing the planning, execution, and logistics of camp activities and programs. They ensure that all activities, theme-related events, wide games, and campfires run smoothly while maintaining safety, organization, and a high-quality camper experience. Leading up to summer they will help prepare activity curriculum, manage inventories, dream up camp highlights and plan rainy-day alternatives. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

In the summer, they will assist with program logistics, including decorating spaces, managing point systems, and running large-scale events. Programs Lead(s) also provide direct support to summer staff by assigning activity roles, facilitating transitions, and preparing activity materials, working to ensure all campers are engaged, safe, and having fun. Strong organizational skills, experience directing large groups, and a proactive, flexible approach are essential for this role, as is a willingness to joyfully participate in the faith-based life of Camp Chestermere.

MEDIC(S)

The Medic ensures the health, safety, and well-being of campers, staff, and volunteers at Camp Chestermere. They oversee the administration of medications, first aid, and emergency care, maintaining detailed records and ensuring all medical procedures are followed accurately. In preparation for camp, Medics inventory supplies, familiarize themselves with emergency protocols, and check that first aid kits and AEDs are ready for use.

During camp, Medics manage medication intake, administer first aid, track camper and staff health medications, and remain on-call for emergencies both day and night (working as a team). This role requires strong attention to detail, advanced first aid or nursing training, calmness under pressure, and a compassionate, faith-driven approach to serving the camp community.

LIFEGUARD(S)

Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of all campers and staff during waterfront activities at Camp Chestermere. They supervise the waterfront, enforce safety standards, maintain accurate safety records, and act as first responders in any emergencies. In preparation for camp, lifeguards will inventory lifejackets and other waterfront supplies as well as organize lifejacket sign-out systems to ensure smooth operations. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

In addition to modelling servant leadership by guiding staff in emergency protocols and mentoring others in waterfront safety, lifeguards will be expected to participate in camp activities outside of lifeguarding hours.

This role requires a valid National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification, maturity, confidence to enforce safety protocols, and a calm, compassionate, faith-driven approach to serving the camp community.

OFFICE ASSISTANT

The Office Assistant plays a key role in keeping the administrative operations of Camp Chestermere running smoothly. They support the Office Manager with tasks such as preparing paperwork, managing camper and staff records, answering phones, creating signage, and overseeing sign-in and sign-out procedures. They also assist with administrative preparations for summer, including promotional material, t-shirts, wristbands, and stocking our tuck shop, ensuring that all office areas and materials are organized and ready for camp. As part of the seasonal leadership team, this role also supports our May and June activity days by helping run activities and hosting/assisting school groups on site.

During camp, the Office Assistant provides professional and friendly support to staff, campers, and parents, helping with inquiries, guiding parents during pick-up, and stepping in to assist with activity or office needs as required. Attention to detail, organizational skills, servant leadership, and a calm, service-oriented approach are essential.

MEDIA COORDINATOR

The Media Coordinator captures and shares the life of Camp Chestermere through photography, video, and social media, helping tell the story of camp to families, supporters, and the broader community. They take camper, staff, and event photos throughout the summer, ensuring the privacy of no-photo campers is always respected, and organize these into weekly albums or videos linked on the camp website. The Media Coordinator also manages Camp Chestermere’s social media presence, posting engaging stories and updates at least three times per week.

In addition to media duties, the Media Coordinator participates in camp life, building relationships with staff and campers, modeling servant leadership, and contributing to a fun, positive atmosphere. This role requires some photography experience, attention to detail, creativity, and a willingness to joyfully participate in faith-based camp programming.

SITE & LANDSCAPE ASSISTANT

The Site & Landscape Assistant is responsible for maintaining and improving the natural and landscaped areas of Camp Chestermere’s property. This includes the care of lawns, flower beds, trees, shrubs, and waterfront areas, as well as building new garden beds, addressing erosion, and maintaining street-front property. They also ensure that all lawn and garden tools are properly maintained and that outdoor spaces are safe, functional, and aesthetically welcoming.

This role requires a hands-on, proactive approach to property maintenance and a passion for creating beautiful, well-kept outdoor spaces. The Site & Maintenance Assistant models servant leadership, works collaboratively with other staff, and contributes to the overall stewardship and care of the camp environment while joyfully participating in faith-based programming.
