Summer 2019 Week 4 Update

Well, it was nice to finally have some summer weather for the.... well.... summer. A lot of nice days last week which was great. But, for whatever reason, wind is an issue this summer. We had a pretty bad wind storm blow through on Wednesday and then we had another one blow through while we had a user group onsite on Saturday. The Saturday one was really bad and a number of branches came down. No significant damage though but a pretty significant mess of branches and leaves to clean up. But, rain, shine or wind, here we go for Week 5. Week 4 Highlights Week 4 was Middle Camp, ages 11 - 15, and the theme was holidays. We did a different holiday every day including an Easter Egg Hunt, St. Patt

Summer 2019 Week 3 Highlights

Good morning everyone, Well the end of Week 3 saw more weather that is a little less than ideal for Summer Camp Programming but Week 4 is starting off great weather wise. One of the low lights from last week was on Thursday afternoon when we had a severe thunderstorm blow through the camp that included heavy rain, hail and lightning. We quickly moved all of the Day Campers into the Dining Room of the Lodge and all of the Overnight Campers into the Chap. Attendance was quickly taken in both locations to ensure that all staff and campers were accounted for. Day Campers played board games with their cabin leaders and watched a movie while Overnight Campers watched a movie in the Chap. Overnight

Summer 2019 Week 2 Update

Week 2 has come to an end and we have just started Week 3. Unfortunately I missed the end of Week 2 as I came down with a nasty head cold. These usually come at the end of the summer but there has been a bug ripping through not only the camp but some others I know outside of the camp as well. It put me into bed for 2 days. But, starting to feel back to myself again and ready to go for week 3. A few other staff have been knocked out with this bug as well. Our Work Crew is currently working their way through the camp spraying disinfectant on all of the door handles and railings. Yup, the battle against the sick bugs is real. Week 2 Highlights Week 2 saw 103 Overnight Campers, 95 Day Campers, a

Summer 2019 Week 1 Update

Good evening everyone, Well, it is hard to believe but we have come to the end of Week 1 and are actually nicely underway into Week 2. As we have done in the past, I will be sending out a Weekly Update about each week during the summer. These will take the format of an email and we will not be sending along an additional attachment like we do with our Monthly Newsletters. While these emails do tend to be long, the reason for these updates is three fold: To help you feel connected to what is happening at camp and celebrate with us. To let you know, whether directly or indirectly, what you can be praying for. To let you know of ways that you can be involved The format will be the same as it ha

July 2.0 Newsletter

Good evening everyone, We had an amazing week of Staff Training and we are so excited to get the Summer 2019 Camping Season under way on Sunday. Please see below for our latest update: Missions Trip to Baker Lake Camp Chestermere was invited by Program Manager Chris Kind of the Billy Graham Association to take part in a mission’s trip to Baker Lake, Nunavut. This amazing opportunity constituted sending three of our Seasonal Leadership Staff to the north…only one week before staff training began! While it was somewhat daunting to send three of our valued leaders away for a week so close to the start of staff training, we are so glad we did! The Camp Chestermere attendees for the mission’s tri
