Summer Week 7 Update

Well, Week 7 has come and gone and WOW what a crazy week it was. We had 112 campers in overnight, 13 who finished their first year of CLTD, and over 80 Day Campers. It was an incredibly busy week. It was a unique week at Camp Chestermere this week as our guest speaker was not only new to Camp Chestermere but this was her first time being at a camp..... ever. Marilyn Schwab is the children's pastor at Eastside Victory Church and she did an amazing job. There was fire, and illusions and just tons of stuff going on to keep all of us engaged throughout all of her sermons. She dropped some absolute bombshells throughout the week including this one, "Jesus said that the things he did we could do b

Summer Week 6 Update

Well, there are only two and a half weeks left of summer camp. That is crazy. All we have left is a week of Kids Camp, then Teens Week and then Mini Tyke Camp and we are done. I have no idea where the summer has gone. It has been great but wow it has been fast. Week 6 was our final week of Middle Camp for overnight. The theme for the week was Spy Week and the Dress Up theme in Day Camp was Safari. Our guest speaker for Week 6 was Richard Sampang (Mr. T). It was great having Richard here as he is a former summer staff member from back in 2011. He is now the youth pastor at Word International Ministries. Richard did an incredible job last week and staff and campers alike were super impressed a

Summer Week 5 Update

Week 5 has come and gone and we are now more than half way through the summer. I have no idea where the time has gone. It seems like yesterday that we were welcoming the Seasonal Leadership Team on site and before we know it we will be done the 2016 Summer Camping Season. Seriously, I feel like if we blink we will miss it. Week 5 saw our 18 Second Year CLTD's complete their second year program, Discipleship. We had 46 campers in Day Camp and 83 in Overnight Camp. Our numbers in Day Camp during week five are often lower due to the August long weekend. There is no such thing as a long weekend at camp, there's barely a thing called a weekend for that matter, but lots of families take advantage

Summer Week 4 Update

Week 4 was another incredible week at Camp Chestermere. We had 18 Second Year CLTD's, 76 Day Campers and 72 Overnight Campers. The Overnight Camp was 11 - 15 year olds and the theme was Olympics and the Dress Up Theme Day in Day Camp was Tropical. Our Guest Speaker in Week 4 was Alison Springer, or as she refers to herself, the tall gorgeous black girl. We love Alison and have had her out many times to speak. Alison runs a great program in Calgary called Young Women of Power. My favourite part of hearing Alison speak is how encouraging she is and how she uses her giftings to empower people. She truly understands her identity as a child of the king and from walking in that identity she invite

Summer 2016 Week 3

Well, week 3 was a lot less exciting weather wise which is fine with us. I mean as I write this we are still cleaning up from ping pong size hail yesterday and are watching another storm blow through. The weather has certainly seen a lot of ups and downs this summer. I would rather we continue with more ups and a lot less downs. Week 3 was another Kids Camp of 7 - 11 year olds, the final week for our first round of year 1 CLTD's and Day Camp. We had 102 Overnight Campers, 75 Day Campers and 18 CLTD's. Great numbers for week 3. Something that is new for us this year is that we are hosting groups on the weekends during the summer. Going into the summer we had some worries about how this would
