Update from Camp Chestermere - Friday March 27
Good afternoon from Camp Chestermere,
Well, it has been quite the couple of weeks for our community, our province, our country and indeed the world. The pace at which our world has changed is just so unprecedented. I wanted to take a moment to let you know about some things that are happening here at Camp Chestermere.
The first real impact for Camp Chestermere from COVID19 was felt when we had to cancel our School Year Camp. This was heartbreaking for so many reasons including the fact that we were doing this camp in partnership with a group of junior high students from Heritage Christian Academy who had worked so hard all year to plan the camp. Secondly, the camp was sold out. It was the first time in a long time where we were at full capacity for a school year camp.
Camp Chestermere has been closed since March 13, 2020. This is a tremendous financial hit to our organization as all guest bookings and activities have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. More on this in a moment.
We are also looking at some creative ways to stay connected and offer things to you and your families. Here are some of the things we are working on.
Our Assistant Director Collin (Deuce) is posting a Post of Hope each day on our social media platforms. You can find these on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. These posts also include a live devotional on our Instagram hosted by our CLTD / Guest Services Coordinator Erik (Baloo)! Each of these #PostsofHope devotional can be found @CampChestermere Monday - Friday at 7:30pm. Follow @CampChestermere for more inspiration.

We understand that many of you already have great pastoral and emotional support through your own community and/or home church. However, we also know that for some, Camp Chestermere is the / a place where you seek spiritual guidance and emotional support. As such, as of Friday March 27, 2020, we have set up an email address for families, children, young adults, seniors, or whoever to utilize if they are seeking spiritual or emotional support. Perhaps you are looking for prayer or a word of encouragement or just a place to ask some questions and connect. If this is you then please email us at email@example.com and we will connect with you, pray with you or for your family or assist however possible.
Online Activities for Campers
Starting next week, Camp Chestermere will be hosting 15 - 60 minute sessions that campers can join and be a part of. We are working on all of the logistics of this right now and more information will be coming soon. Some of the ideas we are kicking around though are worship and/or sing along times with Deuce, baking with Hockey mom, tea time or art time with Shut Eye, cooking with Hockey Mom and Baloo and more. We are putting all of the details of this together right now so watch for more information on this in the coming days.
Support Camp Chestermere
This COVID19 Crisis has had a sudden and real impact on everyone. Many have been laid off and many businesses and not-for-profits are uncertain about the future sustainability of their organization. Camp Chestermere is also facing an uncertain future. We are looking into the government programs that are being released and are working on a specific mail-out in regards to asking people to consider financially supporting Camp Chestermere at this time. But you do not have to wait for that mail-out. If you would like to make a donation to Camp Chestermere to help support us at this time then please go to https://atbcares.benevity.org/community/cause/124-132336777RR0001/donate or contact us at 403 272 6030. Please note that we feel the tension in this ask as this is not an easy time, financially or otherwise, for anyone.
Thank you for your ongoing love, support and prayers. Stay safe and be well.
