November 2018 Update
Merry Christmas from Camp Chestermere,
At the bottom of this email you will find a PDF version of this email that you can share, send out, print and post, or use as you best see to help let people know about the awesome work that is happening at Camp Chestermere. We've also sent this as an email for those who like that format. So, read the email or skip right to the bottom and open the newsletter. Thanks for your ongoing love, support and prayers.
It is with mixed emotions that we announce that our Office Manager Chantel Woolly (Lilac) has resigned from her position. She will be moving on to work with Youth Unlimited. While we are sad to see her go, we are very excited for her and this new opportunity. Chantel has been on staff in some capacity at Camp Chestermere for 8 years, with 4 of those years being on the Year Round Team. She has been an incredible blessing to this ministry and she will be missed. We wish her all the best in her new role with Youth Unlimited.

Camp Chestermere's Ugly Staff, Volunteer and Alumni Christmas Sweater Party
Camp Chestermere is hosting an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. We want to show our appreciation for you by throwing a party filled with games, appies, and good times! We want people who have given time to Camp Chestermere over the years to connect and build relationships. This is not just an event for staff from 2018, but rather an event to connect former and current staff/volunteers under one roof. Make sure to wear your ugly Christmas sweater as there will be prizes available. You are invited to bring a donation for Camp Chestermere or for the food bank, however, this is not mandatory. RSVP VIA EVENT BRITE: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/ugly-christmas-sweater-party-tickets-52165787274
More and more people continue to take advantage of the incredible services we have here at Camp Chestermere. This month we had a number of schools, some for the first time, a number of professional groups, and we held several public engagement meetings. We hope that this will continue to be our normal moving forward. We want Camp Chestermere to be seen as a gift to the community and this is happening more and more which is awesome. Thank you to those who continue to book with us and please help us spread the word about the amazing services we have to offer. Remember, our philosophy is, "the answer is yes, ask the question".
Community Involvement and Events
Camp Chestermere continues to be involved in our community. This month we attended the Recreation Coalition Meeting, Seniors Coalition Meeting, Seniors Week and the Mayor's Breakfast. It was great to hear from Mayor Chalmers and the plans for Chestermere. Camp Chestermere continues to work with the City of Chestermere to find ways that we can support the community. In addition, we were also a part of the National Play Day Event held by Formative 5, and we were a part of the Calgary Hitmen Christmas Miracles Game on December 1. All of this work is done with the hopes of connecting people to Camp Chestermere and continuing to demonstrate how we wish to be a gift to the community. Special thank you to our Year Round Team who put in an incredible amount of hours to make all of this happen. It was awesome to see CLTD Coordinator Erik (Baloo) and Assistant Director Collin (Deuce) as well as our other volunteers dancing on the jumbo tron. Special thanks to Michelle (Hockey Mom), Evan, Julia (Jewel), Evan (Stret), Taylah (Tuesday), Erin (Vendetta) for volunteering at the Hitmen Game.
Camp Chestermere is always in need of volunteers. We always have opportunities for people to help in the kitchen, help with cleaning around the site, help with office admin work, and more. If you have an interest we have a possibility. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to volunteer.
A Special Thank You
I want to make special mention of something that happened this month. Unfortunately, our Kitchen Lead Michelle (Hockey Mom), has a bad injury to her neck and right arm. It was serious enough that she was not able to use her arm and this makes it very difficult to work in the kitchen. We put out a plea for help and we were so blessed to see our extended community step up to help. People from the Chestermere Ag Society, Chestermere Historical Foundation, Chestermere Food Bank, Chestermere High School, Calgary Yacht Club, and a former staff member all stepped in to help. It was awesome to see the work we have been putting into the community in building relationship pay off when we had a need. Thank you to all of those people who stepped up to help. And, we are glad to report that Michelle is on the mend.
As mentioned in our last update, overall donations to Camp Chestermere are down. We know that this is not a unique issue for Camp Chestermere as many ministries and not-for-profit organizations are expressing the same concern. As we head into the Christmas Season, often people are looking for charities and organizations to support and give to. We would hope that you would consider supporting Camp Chestermere with a financial contribution. Or, perhaps you'd like to become a monthly contributor. You can further support us by telling people about the exciting things that are happening at Camp Chestermere. Share our Weekly Updates, Monthly Newsletters, and social media information with people and point them to our website. Let people know about our Donate Your Change Campaign and share this link with them: https://campchestermere.donateyourchange.ca. Tell people why you support Camp Chestermere and the impact this place has had on your life. We thank you in advance for your help with this and please join us in prayer as we continue to believe that God will meet the needs of our organization.
Please know that we do not take your love, support, and especially your prayers for granted. We appreciate it and need it. I wish you and your family all the best over this Christmas season.
