Last Update of 2016

Good afternoon everyone and Merry Christmas,

It is hard to believe that Christmas is so close. This will be the last update before 2017 and so this update will include a couple of things. First of all, it will be a quick update on some things that have happened over the past couple of weeks and then the end of this update will be a review of some of the things that were accomplished in 2016.

Our Under the Tree Campaign is running and we invite you to participate. Under the Tree is about asking you to put Camp Chestermere on your Christmas List. If you go to our website,, you will find a number of items listed for the Under the Tree Campaign. Any of these items would be a huge blessing to the camp. The other way you could participate in this campaign is by looking at our Gift Registry at Toys R Us. Maybe you still have some shopping to do for the kids or grandkids and perhaps you're doing that shopping at Toys R Us. While there, just print off the gift registry for Camp Chestermere and maybe see if there is an item you could bless Camp Chestermere with. And finally, financial donations can always be made online through our website. If you would like to make a contribution towards a particular item listed on our website or in the Toys R Us Registry then just mention that comment in the comments section.

Do you follow us on Social Media??? We are currently in the middle of our 12 days of Christmas Campaign. Check out the highlighted items on all of our Social Media platforms.

On Wednesday last week, Assistant Director Collin (Deuce), CLTD and Guest Services Coordinator Vanessa (Ember), and I did three chapels at Prince of Peace school. It was a great Wednesday and a great chance to reconnect with the students and staff there.

The weekend was a very busy one for the staff. Assistant Director Collin (Deuce) and I were at Heritage Christian Academy working with their Junior High School Missions Team. The HCA JR High Missions Team will be running our kids camp in February. This is a great opportunity for our staff to mentor young people in how to do camp ministry and it is an equally great opportunity for us to learn from them. We are looking forward to the kids camp the first weekend in February.

On top of the work we were doing at HCA, we had two banquets back at the camp. Unfortunately we were down a staff member as CLTD and Guest Services Coordinator Vanessa (Ember) was in a car accident on the way to work. She hit a patch of ice and slid into a guard wall. She is ok but her car was a write off. Please keep Ember in your prayers as she recovers from whiplash and pray for provision as she seeks to get a new car.

One of the two banquets was our Christmas Banquet. Thanks to all of the Year Round Staff who put in a ton of hours this to prepare for this. All of us worked about 23 hours on Saturday and Sunday. Thank you to those who were able to make it out to the banquet. While our numbers were lower this year, those who were able to come had a great time playing games, singing Christmas carols, having their picture taken on the red carpet and enjoying some incredible food. Great job Year Round Team in putting this all together and again, thank you to those who were able to come. We are always truly blessed when people are able to make it out to our events.

Site Coordinator Vic (Poppa Smurf) and Board Member Alex (Crumpet) have been putting in countless hours in putting in a new floor in the Green Triplex. As mentioned before, we had enough flooring donated to us through Alberta Hardwood Flooring to redo all three triplexes. This is a huge blessing and the new floor looks amazing. Thanks Poppa Smurf and Crumpet for your work here.

Ok, long update before an update. The following information was shared at the Christmas Banquet. Please take some time to read and celebrate some of the things we accomplished this past year. We look forward to what God has in store for 2017.
