Guest Services Assistant

Camp Chestermere is hiring a Guest Services Assistant for the Summer 2023 season. In general, the Guest Services Assistant works with all clients who book with Camp Chestermere including, but not limited to, churches, schools, corporations, and the general public. Some of this work will happen during the evening and the majority of the work will be on weekends.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to promoting the camp, assisting in the hosting of guest groups which includes doing dishes, cleaning up areas and meeting the specific needs of individual user groups, working with the Year Round Ministry Team and the Health and Safety Committee to ensure that all site areas are safe and well maintained and communicating with the Executive Director, Guest Services Coordinator and Office Coordinator about guest requirements. The Executive Director and Guest Services Coordinator will provide guidance, mentoring and direction to the Guest Services Assistant.

 

In addition you may be asked to serve in the cabin in some capacity to assist the Summer Camp Operations. A Cabin Leader is to provide care for a group of 5-10 campers for the duration of a week of summer camp by ministering to their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

Kitchen Assistant

Working with a team of 3 - 6 people, plus possible volunteers, the Kitchen Assistant provides assistance and possible oversight for the preparation of meals for up to 300 people. The Kitchen Assistant will assist in the crafting of menus, preparing and serving meals, learn the current operation procedures of the Camp Chestermere kitchen and provide input into the overall operations of the kitchen.

 

Further, working with the Camp Chestermere Year Round Ministry Team and other Kitchen Staff, the Kitchen Assistant will ensure the kitchen areas are safe and well maintained. The Kitchen Assistant will have their food safe. Exact hours will be determined with the rest of the kitchen team and as weekend bookings determine.

Seasonal Staff (Cabin Leader, Work Crew, etc.)

Seasonal Staff work a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 9 weeks during July and August. Weeks worked by Seasonal Staff are dependent upon the availability they provide and the available positions for a given week.

 

Seasonal Staff fill one of four roles in a given week with priority given to the first 2.
(1) Overnight Cabin Leader: Lead an Overnight Cabin of campers in an assortment of tasks, activities, and guide them spiritually.
(2) Day Camp Cabin Leader: Lead a group of campers in an assortment of tasks, activities, and guide them spiritually.
(3) Work Crew: Assist in maintenance tasks and other camp operations as requested.
(4) Kitchen Help: Assist Kitchen Staff in food preparation, serving, and other food related jobs. Please note that while our seasonal staff positions are on a volunteer basis, compensation is received in the form of a weekly stipend.

 

During the months of July and August, staff are here from 3:00 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays. While our Seasonal Leadership Team provides mentorship and leadership to our Seasonal Staff, Seasonal Staff report directly to the Team Leads, Camp Coordinator and Executive Director.

It is understood that the Seasonal Staff will be people of prayer, love and celebration, and who practice relational integrity.

Success Leader

Camp Chestermere is hiring 4 individuals, ideally 2 males and 2 females, who will work with campers with special needs. The program is called Helping All Campers Succeed. This is Camp Chestermere’s program for children with special needs where we offer 1:1 and up to 1:3 care for the children in the program. The goal of the program is to integrate the children into regular programming as much as possible. The program is also for children who may require extra care or attention but do not need to be one on one with a leader. The children in the program may be in Day or Overnight Camp. Camper needs could include physical or cognitive needs.

 

An educational background or experience in working with Children with Special Needs is an asset. This program is fully funded by a grant from FCSS Chestermere and United Way Chestermere. During the months of July and August, staff are here from 3:00 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays. Success Leaders will report to the Success Team Lead, Camp Coordinator and Executive Director and agree to contribute to the ministry efforts of Camp Chestermere.
