CLTD Leader

We are hiring for 4 positions for the Chirstian Leadership Training and Discipleship (CLTD) Leadership Team, and are looking for 2 female and 2 male leaders. The CLTD Program is Camp Chestermere’s Teen Leadership Program and the expectation is that, under the guidance of the Year Round Ministry Team, CLTD Leaders will help the CLTD participants become leaders in whatever context they find themselves in. CLTD Leaders provide spiritual leadership and guidance to CLTD participants and so a strong grounding in the Christian faith is required for this position. CLTD Leaders will stay in cabins with the CLTD’s throughout the summer. We are making a change to the 2023 CLTD positions in that, while the general job descriptions are similar, each CLTD Leader will have their own area of responsibility.

 

During the months of May and June, the Seasonal Leadership positions are basically Monday - Friday during the day with limited evening and weekend hosting. During the months of July and August, staff are here from 2:30 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays. During the months of May and June, all the CLTD Leaders will assist in the hosting of activity days, hosting of user and rental groups, help with the setup of program areas, attend camp promotion opportunities, and prep cabins and/or other areas for the summer. Weekend and evening hosting will be expected of all Seasonal Leadership Staff, in which case, time in lieu will be given.

 

CLTD Leaders will work collectively to organize the various aspects of the CLTD program including planning activities, creating schedules, and participating in dreaming and brainstorming sessions. During the months of July and August, CLTD Leaders provide direct oversight to the CLTD program. This includes spiritually mentoring and leading the participants in the CLTD program, giving oversight to the CLTD’s in their various activities including clean-up, chores and serving food, and planning devotions and activities for the CLTD’s.

As a part of the Seasonal Leadership Team, the CLTD Leader will provide spiritual leadership and support to Seasonal Staff. CLTD Administrative and Schedule Lead

The CLTD Administrator and Schedule Lead will be responsible for the administrative side of CLTD including organizing all of the paperwork associated with CLTD, ensuring the CLTD schedule is organized and being followed, ordering supplies for the program, and other administrative tasks as required.

CLTD Devotional and Wellness Leader

The CLTD Devotional and Wellness Leader will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating the devotional session times, assigning who is leading what session and checking in on CLTD’s and CLTD Leaders on an ongoing basis to see how they are doing mentally, physically and spiritually. The CLTD Devotional and Wellness Leader will report any concerns about CLTD’s or CLTD leaders to the Camp Coordinator or Executive Director.

CLTD Gratis Lead

CLTD Programs Lead

The CLTD Gratis Lead will give oversight to the chores that the CLTD’s do including serving food, dishes, lake weeds and other tasks. The CLTD Gratis Lead will create a daily schedule of who is assigned to what gratis task and will ensure that all CLTD gratis tasks are completed.

The CLTD Programs Lead will give oversight to the organizing of the activities that CLTD participants do. This will be done in cooperation with the Program Leads. The CLTD Programs Lead will explore ways for CLTD’s to participate in regular Camp Chestermere Programming as well as plan programs that are distinctly for the CLTD participants.

Day Camp Team Lead (DCTL)

During the months of May and June, the Seasonal Leadership positions are basically Monday - Friday during the day with limited evening and weekend hosting. During the months of July and August, staff are here from 2:30 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays. During the months of May and June, the DCTL assists in the hosting of activity days, hosting of user and rental groups, help with the setup of program areas, attend camp promotion opportunities, and prep cabins and/or other areas for the summer. Weekend and evening hosting will be requested of all Seasonal Leadership staff, in which case, day’s in lieu will be given.

 

The DCTL organizes the various aspects of Summer Day Camp including planning activities and creating schedules. The DCTL will work with the Worship/Discipleship Pastor in the development & execution of the Day Camp Fireside Curriculum. The DCTL provides direct oversight to the Day Camp Leaders. This includes being involved in the hiring process of Seasonal Staff, providing mentorship to and evaluation of Seasonal Staff, modeling effective leadership practices, providing spiritual guidance, and ensuring Seasonal Staff are performing their duties to expected standards. The DCTL helps with restorative discipline practices as needed with campers. The DCTL will lead staff devotions as scheduled by the Camp Coordinator. A major part of this position is the spiritual mentorship of the Seasonal Staff and this is a key characteristic that we will look for in this position. The DCTL will assist with staff training during staff training week and will be flexible in working with the Year Round Team in assisting with various tasks that may need to be done. The DCTL will interact with parents of campers in a professional manner, and be responsible for the sign-in/out procedures for all Day Campers. The DCTL will provide leadership for camp clean up during the week and at the end of camp. Finally, the DCTL will make proposals to the Camp Coordinator and Executive Director in regards to items to be purchased for Day Camp activities.

Kitchen Lead

The Kitchen Lead is a Seasonal Full Time Position. Working with a team of 3 - 6 people, plus volunteers, the Kitchen Lead provides assistance and oversight for the preparation of meals for up to 300 people. The Kitchen Lead will assist in the crafting of menus, preparing and serving meals, learn the current operation procedures of the Camp Chestermere kitchen and provide input into the overall operations of the kitchen.

 

Further, working with the Camp Chestermere Year Round Ministry Team and other Kitchen Staff, the Kitchen Lead will ensure the kitchen areas are safe and well maintained. The Kitchen Lead will have their food safe. Camp Chestermere will pay for the online Food Safe Course. Exact working hours will be determined with the rest of the kitchen team and as weekend bookings determine. The

Kitchen Lead will report to the Kitchen Coordinator and Executive Director and agree to contribute to the ministry efforts of Camp Chestermere. Lifeguard

During the months of May and June, Lifeguards will assist in the hosting of activity days, hosting of user and rental groups, help with the setup of program areas, attend camp promotion opportunities, and prep cabins and/or other areas for the summer. Weekend and evening hosting will be required of all Seasonal Leadership staff, in which case, days in lieu will be given.

 

In addition, Lifeguards will work on establishing and maintaining systems and procedures for the waterfront area including for kayaks, canoes, beach time, and other related waterfront activities. Lifeguards will lead sessions on waterfront procedures during the week of staff training. Lifeguards will be performing lifeguard duties during activity days and summer camps. Lifeguards will be communicating with the Program Leaders, Camp Coordinator and Executive Director about any safety or procedures concerns. Lifeguards will be involved in any additional programming events as required by the Program Leaders, Camp Coordinator or Executive Director. Lifeguards must have NLS certification. Camp Chestermere will pay for the Lifeguards to take the Med Administration course so that the Lifeguards can assist the medics.

Media Coordinator

During the months of May and June, the Seasonal Leadership positions are basically Monday - Friday during the day with limited evening and weekend hosting. During the months of July and August, staff are here from 2:30 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays.

The Media Coordinator will take photos and videos throughout summer camp and assist in the development of promotional material. The Media Coordinator will have access to Camp Chestermere’s social media accounts and will be expected to post regularly to each platform. The Media Coordinator will assist in the execution of the ‘Tik-Tok Making’ activity as outlined by the Program Leads. The Media Coordinator will compile Weekly Highlight Videos. The Media Coordinator will be flexible in working with the Year Round Ministry Team in assisting with tasks that may need to be done. The Media Coordinator will provide leadership for camp clean up during the week and at the end of camp.

Medic

Camp Chestermere is hiring two Camp Medic’s for the Summer 2023 season. During the months of May and June, the Seasonal Leadership positions are basically Monday - Friday during the day with limited evening and weekend hosting. During the months of July and August, staff are here from 2:30 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays. During the months of May and June, the Camp Medic will assist in the hosting of activity days, hosting of user and rental groups, help with the setup of program areas, attend camp promotion opportunities and prep cabins and/or other areas for the summer. Weekend and evening hosting will be requested of all Seasonal Leadership Staff, in which case, day’s in lieu will be given.

 

In addition, the Camp Medic will prepare the medic area including the medic’s office and infirmary, organize and purchase medical supplies, and work on safety and emergency procedures. The Camp Medic will greet campers as they arrive and sign in their medications, administer medications to campers as needed, sign out medications at the end of camps, and respond to emergency and medical situations as needed. The Camp Medic will record all medical interactions between campers and staff and will stay in constant communication with the Camp Coordinator and Executive Director in regards to situations as they arise. The Camp Medic will be available 24 hours a day for campers/staff who may become ill during the evening. Must have a minimum qualification of Standard First Aid and CPR. More qualifications are an asset. Camp Chestermere will pay for the Camp Medic to take their Med Admin if they do not have it.

Office Assistant

The vast majority of the work done by the Office Assistant will consist of answering phone calls, registering campers for summer camps, answering parent inquiries both via email and/or on the phone, and completing tasks as directed by the Office Coordinator and/or Executive Director.

During the Months of July-Aug, the OFTL provide direct oversight to all Seasonal Staff. Program Lead

Program Leads will prepare training material for staff to use when running programs, create schedules, and participate in dreaming and brainstorming sessions. Program Leads will assist in the preparation and editing of safety and procedures guidelines and manuals. In addition, Program Leads provide direct oversight to all program areas at Camp Chestermere including for Overnight and Day Camp activities. This includes ensuring staff have materials needed for running activities, ensuring staff are running activities in a safe manner, ensuring that all program areas are clean and prepared for the campers, and ensuring that activity areas are ready to go at the required times. Program Leads will lead staff devotions as scheduled by the Camp Coordinator. Program Leads will assist with staff training during staff training week and will be flexible in working with the Year Round Team in assisting with tasks that may need to be done. Program Leads will provide leadership for camp clean up during the week and at the end of camp. Roles within the Programs Team will be established based on the skills sets and comfort ability of those hired to be on the team.

Success Team Lead

Weekend and evening hosting will be requested of all Seasonal Leadership staff, in which case, day’s in lieu will be given.

 

The Success Team Lead will give oversight to a team of 4 for the Helping All Campers Succeed Program. This is Camp Chestermere’s program for children with special needs where we offer 1:1 and up to 1:3 care for the children in the program. The goal of the program is to integrate the children into regular programming as much as possible. The program is also for children who may require extra care or attention but do not need to be one on one with a leader. The children in the program may be in Day or Overnight Camp. Camper needs could include physical or cognitive needs. The Success Team Lead will be doing organizational administrative work, program development, contacting parents and children who have applied for the program and other tasks as negotiated and deemed a fit for the position. The Success Team Lead will set up meetings with families to meet the children and discuss how Camp Chestermere can best support the child. Resources for conducting these meetings in an effective way will be provided. An educational background or experience in working with Children with Special Needs is an asset. The Success Team Lead will provide breaks for the members of their team and, at times, may need to work one on one with a Success Camper for an extended period of time.

Team Support

Camp Chestermere is hiring two people in the Team Support role for the 2023 season. During the months of May and June, the Seasonal Leadership positions are basically Monday - Friday during the day with limited evening and weekend hosting. During the months of July and August, staff are here from 2:30 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays. Throughout the months of May and June, Team Support Leaders will host activity days, assist with user and rental groups, help with the setup of program areas, attend camp promotion opportunities, and prepare cabins and/or other areas for the summer. Weekend and evening hosting may be requested of all Seasonal Leadership staff, in which case, day’s in lieu will be given.

 

In addition, Team Support Leaders will be working with various other Seasonal Leadership Team members on an as needed and required basis. In conjunction with the Programs Team, Team Support Leaders will be preparing training material for staff to use when running programs, creating schedules, and participating in dreaming and brainstorming sessions with various Seasonal and Year Round Staff Members. In addition, Team Support Leaders will be working with other teams within the Seasonal Leadership Team supporting the work that they are doing. Team Support Leaders will also be working with the Guest Services Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and the Site Coordinator on an as needed basis. Team Support Leaders can/will do everything from take over a Seasonal Leadership position when another Seasonal Leader goes on vacation, to working in cabin, to helping in the office, to helping with maintenance, to helping in the kitchen, and any other task as required. As suggested by the name, the Team Support Leader position is designed to provide support to all areas of the organization and, as such, an ability to be flexible is a must.

The Year Round Ministry Team provides leadership to all Seasonal Leadership and Seasonal Staff. Seasonal Leadership has oversight of the Seasonal Staff. As a part of the Seasonal Leadership Team, the Team Support Leaders will provide spiritual leadership and support to Seasonal Staff. It is understood that the Seasonal Leadership Team will be people of prayer, love and celebration, and who practice relational integrity.

Volunteer Mentorship Coordinator

During the months of May and June, the Seasonal Leadership positions are basically Monday - Friday during the day with limited evening and weekend hosting. During the months of July and August, staff are here from 2:30 on Sundays through to 7:00 on Fridays. During the months of May and June, the Volunteer Mentorship Coordinator will assist in the hosting of activity days, hosting of user and rental groups, help with the setup of program areas, attend camp promotion opportunities and prep cabins and/or other areas for the summer. Weekend and evening hosting will be requested of all Seasonal Leadership Staff, in which case, day’s in lieu will be given.

 

The Volunteer Mentorship Coordinator will oversee and schedule all volunteers. The Volunteer Mentorship Coordinator will work alongside volunteers while they are on site, doing various physical labour tasks with the volunteers where applicable. The Volunteer Mentorship Coordinator will work in cooperation with the Site Coordinator in order to establish a priority of tasks needed to be done, organize and assign volunteers to those tasks, and to establish a plan to execute said tasks. One aspect of this program is the Gateway Program run by the Calgary Police Service. Other volunteers may include local at-risk youth as recommended to us by parents, Synergy, or Chestermere or Strathmore RCMP, or youth and young people from the community who would like to do volunteer work. The Volunteer Mentorship Coordinator interviews potential volunteers who would be coming to camp, coordinate their schedules, work alongside them while they are here and build meaningful relationships with the volunteers. The Volunteer Mentorship Coordinator Position has 4 main pieces to it: (1) Coordinating the volunteers from the Gateway Program (2) Coordinating schedules of other at-risk who may be recommended by other agencies and RCMP (3) Coordinating schedules of community members who, for various reasons, would like to volunteer. (4) The preparation of boats and developing schedules for boat drivers. This program is fully funded by a grant from the Chestermere FCSS and Chestermere United Way. Being a student is NOT a requirement for this grant.

Worship/Discipleship Pastor

The Worship/Discipleship Pastor will give oversight to and lead the worship times during evening Fireside (chapel). The Worship/Discipleship Pastor will further be responsible for providing spiritual guidance to Camp Chestermere Staff, Campers and Volunteers. The ability to lead worship is a requirement for this job. The Worship/Discipleship Pastor will attend all Firesides and will work with the Day Camp Team Lead on the Day Camp Fireside Curriculum. The Worship/Discipleship Pastor will work with the Guest Speakers. This includes connecting with them before they come, greeting them when they come on site, preparing their welcome gift basket and helping them with any questions they may have. The Worship/Discipleship Pastor must have a passion for the ministry potential of Camp Ministry, and specifically discipleship at Camp Chestermere. This will be evident through the Worship/Discipleship Pastor’s effort to make connections with campers, families, colleagues, and the broader community. The Worship/Discipleship Pastor needs to be highly relational and should be able to connect and relate to a wide variety of campers, both in interests and age levels.
