Executive Director Job Posting

Camp Chestermere is a year-round Christian Camp and Ministry organization, located in the City of Chestermere, Alberta, that creates A Place to Belong by representing the love of Jesus. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this position will provide spiritual and operational leadership to Camp Chestermere. In alignment with Camp Chestermere’s Vision, Mission and Values, the Executive Director will effectively lead and manage the camp operations in a manner consistent with these priorities. The Executive Director will provide leadership to all aspects of the ministry of Camp Chestermere.

Responsibilities and Duties

A seasoned ministry leader with evidence of a continually growing personal relationship with Jesus, the Executive Director is responsible to:

● Exemplify Christ-centered leadership with an ongoing commitment to honour God and see Jesus as the foundation of the ministry.

● Ensure the processes and practices are in place to facilitate strong spiritual and operational year-round, seasonal and summer teams.

● Cultivate a culture conducive to Christian ministry, teamwork and operational excellence.

● Provide support and guidance in the programming of Camp Chestermere including: summer day and overnight camp curriculums, school year camps, CLTD program, worship and various faith development programs. Ensure an effective follow-up ministry throughout the calendar year.

● Steward annual budget in excess of $1MM.

● Partner with the Board and staff to identify and implement revenue generating strategies in line with growth plans as well as identify risks, and associated mitigation strategies, related to financial health.

● Ensure programs, processes and standards are in place to facilitate a safe, secure and compliant site for all staff and guests.

● Build and foster strong relationships with member and non-member churches and ministry organizations.

● Build upon Camp Chestermere’s strong relationships and reputation within the community and not-for-profit partners.

● Develop and execute marketing programs to ensure the full utilization of camp facilities.

Qualifications

The qualifications of our ideal candidate include:

● Personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a growing relationship with the living God and evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. Aligned with and committed to Camp Chestermere’s Statement of Faith.

● A life and leadership style that is Scripture fed and Spirit led, devoted to prayer and teaching of the Word (Acts 6:4).

● 10+ years of previous ministry and leadership experience, preferably in a Camp environment.

● University degree or equivalent in a related field.

● Demonstrated ability to maintain healthy working relationships with Board and team.

● Winsome leader who is humble, teachable, approachable, able to coach and empower others. Known as a leader who is wise and discerning.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate through presentation and to large audiences.

● Strong planning, organizing, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

● Self-starter who is creative, motivated and diligent with a high commitment to personal and professional excellence.

● Business acumen, particularly in the area of budget development, fiscal control and revenue generation.

● Working knowledge of property/facilities management, building operations and maintenance.

This is a year-round salaried position which offers a competitive compensation package including: salary, benefits plan and provision of on-site housing. While we are seeking a permanent, full-time Executive Director, given our proximity to the summer camping season, we are also reviewing applicants who would consider an "Interim" role from June - August.
