CLTD FAQs

How old does my child have to be to attend the CLTD program?
For the first year CLTD program, participants have to be entering into grade nine or higher the autumn after the program.

What is being taught in the CLTD program?
First and foremost the CLTD program is interested in developing the faith life of participants. While the program does provide CLTDs with skills and knowledge they will need to prepare for future leadership at camp and for life outside of camp, they will look deeper into spiritual matters using media tools, group activities and Bible sessions, and will develop team-building skills through work around the camp and with other staff members.

For more detail about the specifics of each year of CLTD lessons, read "CLTD Program" under the "Leadership Training" section

Why does my child have to apply for the program and have three references?
The CLTD program is not just another camp. It is meant for young adults who are serious about growing in their faith and learning how to be leaders in the camp community and in other areas of their lives. Having the references enforces the fact the CLTD is going to be serious about what they are at camp to learn and that they will be able to follow the leadership of their instructors, and function well as a group with their fellow CLTDs.

The CLTD program runs for two weeks, does my child spend the weekend at camp?
No, CLTDs return home for the weekend on the Friday evening when all other campers are leaving (between 4:30-5:00pm). Their session starts once again with the beginning of the next week's camp (i.e., drop-off at 5:00pm Sunday evening). CLTDs will have no supervision over the weekend, and so cannot stay at the camp between their two week-long sessions.
