Letter from the Director
Thank you for your interest in Camp Chestermere. As you may have read in our "history" segment, we've been serving families in the Chestermere and Calgary area for over 50 years and have many children (and adults) who look back on their one week of summer experience as some of the most memorable times of their lives.
Our focus here at Camp Chestermere has been to develop young men and women to become more secure, confident and empowered. We use the motto, "a place to belong" to describe the type of place we strive to be for campers, staff and alumni as we create an environment that includes everyone, regardless of their race, creed, religion or socioeconomic status.
We are a Christian camp and teach lessons to our campers from the Bible and from our Christian values. We give our campers opportunity to ask questions, to explore the Christian faith, and to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We primarily serve families that typically wouldn't attend church and we always strive to make a person feel comfortable with the faith practice of their families. We try to create a fun and safe place where kids can just be themselves & feel accepted.
Our summer staff, who are usually between the ages of 16 to 24 years of age are youth who have either grown up at this camp or who love to just "hang" with kids. They have chosen to spend their summer working for less than 1/4 of what they could make at a summer job in Calgary and work longer hours and much harder. They come to camp, because they want to recreate their experience of "summer camp" for other kids.
