Each summer we have 40-50 college & high school young adults join us in various roles to care for 160-180 children between the ages of 5 to 18. Through a culture of community, safety & fun we build relationships with each other and our campers, encouraging one another with the love of Christ and sharing His life with those who are exploring our faith for the first time.
The various positions we are currently seeking are;
Program Assistant May 2 - Aug 24 $360/week
Be a part of our core ledership team! During the months of May & June you will take part in pre-summer planning and preparation, school activity days, building activity equipment, etc. Throughout the summer you will help ensure the smooth day to day operation of the summer program, and come alongside program staff and peer leaders in a mentoring role.
Program Peer July 1 - Aug 24 $150/week
Throughout the summer you will assist in activity areas, maintaining the upkeep of equipment and supplies, leading & creating wide games and helping the Program Coordinator with day to day operations within the program areas.
Youth Volunteer Peer Leader July 1 - Aug 24 $150/week
Throughout the summer you will oversee our Youth Volunteers, putting together their schedules, organizing work projects, supervising and leading devotional times with them. Responsibilities include supervising, discipline, and working alongside the youth.
Senior Cabin Leaders (must be 18 years or older) $100 per week
You will be in cabin with the kids and will be teaching activities. You oversee Junior Cabin Leaders, 1st strikes with the children and overall care of each child in your cabin. Responsibilities include; leading wide games, leading in cabin devotions, etc.
Junior Cabin Leaders ( under 18 years) $50 per week
Office Assistant May 2 - Aug 24 $9/hr
Assist with camp registration, answering phones, talking with parents, typing reports, and other office duties.
Life Guard June 24 - Aug 24 $150/week
Responsible for water safety; supervising Free Time Swimming - other duties may include teaching activities or cabin leading.
CLTD Leader June 24 - Aug 24 $360/week
Be involved in the lives of youth (Christian Leadership & Training Discipleship Program) for ages 14-16; mentoring, teaching & working alongside in their camp chores.
Peer Leader June 24-Aug 24 $150/week
You will serve either in cabin or activity leading throughout the summer, working alongside your peers, providing support to the Team Leaders. You will be given a wide range of responsibilities assisting in the day to day operation of camp; some of these would be; leading wide games, running meals, organizing special events, hands on training with junior cabin leaders.
If you are interested in serving as a Cabin Leader, you are welcome to serve for 1 week or all 8 weeks of the summer. We would love to have you join us for the entire summer, but understand if you are only able to give us a few weeks. We would ask though, that you attend the Staff Training week; this is your opportunity to get to know the entire team, the senior staff members, and practical teachings on the life of a Camp Cabin Leader to help you succeed.
After submitting your application, our Team Leaders will then contact you for an interview. All applicants, whether you have worked here or are new to our community will receive an interview from our Team Leaders panel.
Staff Bursary
Each year Camp Chestermere actively fundraises for the Bursary and at the end of the summer the total amount raised is divided evenly among all bursary applicants. Anyone working a minimum of 6 weeks at our camp and is attending post secondary education in 2012/2013 school year or will be serving in full time missions is eligible for a Staff Bursary. Each Bursary applicant is required to write a short note about themselves which will be added to the bursary fundraising letter and provide us with 20 names of potential donors along with their mailing address to the camp office by June 26, 2012.
Staff Training
We would prefer that all of our staff attend all or some of the Staff Training week of June 24 - June 29.
